What is ISO 27001?
ISO 27001 is an internationally recognized standard for information security management. It confirms that the certified company effectively ensures data security. To get the ISO 27001 certification, a company has to undergo a strict evaluation process, during which an independent auditor examines:
- the company’s preventive measures against data breach risks
- rules for information access within the company
- the enterprise’s system for monitoring security policy compliance
- implemented procedures for solving security incidents
Furthermore, the certificate holder doesn’t get the ISO 27001 certification for indefinite time period – the company has to regularly prove that it actually meets the set standards in the long term.
